"Airraid sirens started wailing at the beginning of June at the Reich Cabaret in West Berlin. Bursts of laughter were touched off each night as the audience was welcomed as "dear old men in field gray" by Ortrud Beginnen, who said she and her troupe had come all the way "to the front" to entertain "you brave guys". Miss Beginnen and her partner Waltraut Habicht then proceeded to satirize the performances staged by the Nazis and the German Army for the troops during the second World war. Their approach was a new one making fun of the era without direct attacks on Hitler or the Nazis. The show has been highly praised by the critics, and Berliners have crowded the theatre each night."
